The Recharge Centre which is the outcome of the “Let’s Go A Fishing” led by Pst. Bolaji Akinremi in the Holy Ghost Zone, Province 1 (Central Parish); was inaugurated in November 2007 and had its first location and service in December 2007 at the NAOWA Centre, Gado Nasko Barracks, Asokoro – Abuja.

The Recharge Centre Parish which was then pastored by Deacon Demian Jiraji had a short lived stay at the NAOWA Centre due to some irreconcilable difference between the church and some stakeholders in the neighbouring who were concerned that the presence of The Recharge Center was causing them member attrition, and so used military influence to forcefully discontinue the church activities in the premises.

As a fall out of these unfortunate circumstances, the church temporarily fellowships out of the house of a minister (Mr. Ngozi), while the search for another location continued.

In 2008, a venue was found in Uzziz Park & Garden by Banex Junction, with the Recharge Center occupying a portion of the Garden that was barely sheltered. Fellowships and church services continued under the Pastorate of Dcn Demian Jiraji until 2010, when Pastor Maha James was transferred to continue the Leadership of the church.

A little under two years of fellowshipping at Uzziz Park, the caretaker of the park who also owned a church in the park, liaised with Development Control to demolish the portion of the park occupied by the Recharge Centre. In the heat of the demolition and displacement, a decision was made by Pastor Maha James and the ministers to acquire a land where the church would be permanently located.

This decision led to the movement in 2012, of The Recharge Centre to Ushafa. In spite of the fact that this would be a great traveling distance/commute for the workers and members; the church had no better option.

The church then moved to Ushafa and fellowshipped in a little shelter (Detyms as we know it now), while the search for a land started.
A land (the ground we are standing on today) was soon discovered along SCC road and purchased. Construction of a sizable structure (the old demolished auditorium) immediately commenced by a corner of the land. After the construction, the church moved in and in less than two years the Parish became a Zonal Headquarters – A double promotion.

As a result of this commendable growth, Pastor Maha James was transferred immediately and Pastor Wilfred Yakubu took over the leadership of the church. In 2014, Pastor Wilfred Yakubu laid the foundation of this beautiful edifice.

In 2015, Pastor PRIYE OKIE took over as the Zonal Pastor until October 2016 when Pastor Muyiwa Adebayo became the Pastor in charge of Recharge Centre Zone till date. Pastor Muyiwa Adebayo within these years to the Glory of God was able to put up this auditorium which we are dedicating today.
